Driving from the UK to Châtel may take less time than you think – especially if you're coming from South-East England. It's only 830km (515 miles) from Calais and takes around 8 hours. Why not leave a day earlier, book a hotel and stagger your journey? It saves lugging your skis around the airport and means you have the use of your car at the resort. Both chalets have good parking.

Channel crossings
The earlier you book, the cheaper it is. Eurotunnel is fastest at only 30 minutes and runs from Folkstone to Calais. Ferry services take longer but can offer some great deals – P&O run from Dover to Calais and Speed Ferries Dover to Boulogne. Check their sites for details.
